Flight Information

You should book your flights to land in Lima at Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM).  From there, you will need to connect to Arequipa’s Rodriguez Ballon International Airport (AQP) on one of the national carriers.  We recommend Lan Peru, a member of the One World Alliance.

When booking your flights, you should make sure to check itineraries all the way to Arequipa and ones to Lima to determine cost effectiveness.  If you decide to buy a ticket to Lima and a separate ticket from Lima to Arequipa, then you can purchase your Lima-Arequipa ticket at and save between 20-50% on that leg of your trip.  Just make sure to select the Peru site (note, this version is in Spanish) and buy a Flexible or Full Flexible fare.  Do not buy the Base or Base Plus fares, as they are only meant for Peruvian residents!  Instructions on navigating the Peru portal can be found here.

Public Transportation

In Lima

If you are spending some days in Lima before or after the wedding, we recommend that you only use licensed taxis when transferring to and from the airport.  For international arrivals, you will be able to find the taxi kiosk as soon as you exit the customs area.  Licensed cab drivers will be wearing a green badge and the taxi kiosk will be located inside the terminal to your right as you come out of customs.

For national arrivals coming into Lima airport, the taxi kiosk will be straight ahead as you exit the baggage claim area.

In Arequipa

Airport taxis can be booked in the baggage claim area.

We strongly suggest that you take taxis to get around the various cities you plan to visit rather than venture into local buses.  In Lima, a taxi ride will be about S/. 10.00 (ten nuevos soles).  In Arequipa, average taxi rides are S/. 5.00.  For every city that you stay in, we strongly encourage you to have your hotel call a taxi for you.

Always make sure that you carry a taxi number in the city you are traveling in.  For Arequipa, we suggest you use Taxitel (locally dial: 45.2020, international dial: +  For your safety, we strongly suggest that you only flag down taxis that have the Taxitel logo (image below) on top for security and safety reasons.  Otherwise, have your hotel arrange a taxi for you.
